Spiced Cider

Category: Beverage / Submtd By: Peggy Hall

Yield: 16 Servings

When i act as hostess for christmas eve, i always prepare hot spiced cider. It tastes delicious and makes the whole house smell good - peggy.

1 Gallon Apple Cider

2 Teaspoon Whole Allspice

1 Can Apple Juice Concentrate, 12

Dash Nutmeg

-Fluid Ounces

Dash Salt

1 Cup Brown Sugar

1 Teaspoon Lemon Peel, Grated

3 Cinnamon Stick

1 Teaspoon Orange Peel, Grated

1 Teaspoon Whole Cloves

Combine all the ingredients in a large pot.
Bring to a full boil.
Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes.
Strain the cider to remove the spices (a coffee filter inside a mesh strainer works nicely for this).
Serve hot.

If you place the cider in a crockpot set on low with a ladle and mugs nearby, the guests will be able to serve
themselves without having to go into your kitchen.

Variations:
You could add some Calvados for an alcoholic cider.
Or you can intensify the apple flavor by adding some Boiled Cider.
